The latest grumble on the ‘net’, concerns paypals latest move, to penalise sellers yet again!

It seems that without any prior warning, that Paypal have decide to penalise their clients, the online sellers, in respect of the funds that they take per month.

Do a quick google search on ‘Paypal Account Reserve’ and you will see countless results for yourself. What are Paypal thinking?

Quick scam to increase the funds held by paypal to appease government legislation?

Guess what! Paypal falls outside the legislation that’s applied to our high street banks.

So quick scam it is then, any move they can think of to suck client money in to earn interest?

Your comments are welcome .

Have you come across this snippet of information in the last few weeks?

We have just stumbled upon an article that states on September 22nd, Google released a new update to their so-popular toolbar called SideWiki and looking at it, this update could spell all kinds of trouble for your ecommerce business!

Here is one of the articles that we came across http://www.marketersboard.com/google-sidewiki-controversy/

Basically, what it boils down to is that anybody using the Google toolbar (and we are talking thousands and thousands of people here) can add a comment to your website.

If they add good or complimenary comments about your site or business then obviously this would be very helpful to you and probably generate more sales.

The problem is, what if they don’t? What if they leave bad, negative comments that will obviously damage your business?

As it stands now, if a user has the Google toolbar and any sort of Google profile—Gmail, AdWords, AdSense or Google Checkout then he or she has free rein to make comments about your website in google search listings. The comments show up on the left hand side of the web site page.

This could be catastophic for your online reputation if your competitors or just some nasty person with a perverted sense of mischief decides to bombard your business website with malicious and harmful comments.

You can’t delete them.

You might notice a sudden drop in sales over a few days, and then check your website only to discover that someone has left a malicious comment.

It doesn’t matter that it isn’t true, the visitors to your site have no way of knowing whether it’s true or not, do they? They’ll take it as gospel and run a mile without buying anything.

Not only are you unable to delete comments of this nature, there is no way to opt out, nor a moderation queue so that you can approve or disapprove later.Once the comments are made, they’re there until Google removes them At this point, that’s your only way of getting rid of them. If someone leaves untrue or malicious comments on your website, you are supposed to notify Google and then wait patiently for them to remove the unwanted comments.

You might have a long wait, as there seem to be a LOT of irate ecommerce business owners grappling with this problem as this is being written. So Google probably has its hands full at the moment.

An enterprising programmer has come up with a download called the SideWiki Comment Blocker. You can check it out and learn more about how to protect your business from this potentially very serious threat here: http://www.swikiblocker.com/?id=redspell

Hopefully Google will take action to correct this dismal state of affairs in the near future if enough people complain about it. But until then, you might want to consider getting the download to block unwanted comments.

Shopping cart abandonment is a regrettable fact of life for anyone with an ecommerce business.

There are many and varied reasons why consumers place items in their online shopping carts and then back out before completing checkout. Some of the most common reasons for abandoned shopping carts are:

Decided to shop offline instead of online

Unable to locate Customer Support

The item was out of stock at checkout

Not enough money

High shipping costs or no stated shipping costs

Lack of preferred payment method

Worry about site security and safety of using credit card online

Left to try and find an online coupon before buying

Wanted to do some comparison shopping at other websites

Inconvenient checkout process

Of all these reasons why your customers leave before actually becoming bona fide paying customers, shipping charges that are perceived to be excessive is the biggie by far, according to a survey recently conducted by Comscore for Paypal.

Based on the findings of this survey, Paypal has released the new Paypal Instant Update API, which is an express checkout feature that they hope will help to eliminate shopping cart abandonment.

This new express checkout feature will let online merchants furnish customers with all of the information they need right up front, so that they can go ahead and complete the purchase.

If you are an online merchant who integrates the new Paypal Express Checkout feature into your website, your customers will be able to see all of the pertinent order details such as sales tax, if any; insurance choices and also the shipping options you are giving them.

By being able to see this early in the checkout process, this should cut down significantly on abandoned shopping carts because shoppers will see at a glance exactly what they will be paying in total.

Your customers will still be paying on your website, but they will be spared the time consuming inconvenience of having to enter things such as shipping address and payment information on your site to checkout, because it’s already on file with Paypal.

You might consider giving this a try, or at least a look-see.

Anything that helps cut down on shopping cart abandonment will definitely improve your profits and the success of your dropshipping business!

While millions of people dream of becoming their own boss and working from the relative comfort of their own homes, the specifics of how to actually go about doing so remain a bit unclear for most. This book hopes to clear much of that up with clear, concise advice on how to set up your very own drop-ship enterprise using eBay, the world’s largest retailer.

The Internet has opened up opportunities for people of all ages, no matter where they live. Nowhere is this more apparent than on the world’s leading auction site, eBay. Not only is one able to get rid of all the junk in their attic or basement, but you are now able to become a bona-fide retailer, with eBay virtual storefronts.

Moreover, there is nothing saying that you need to make the products yourself or even send them yourself. In fact, one of the fastest growing segments of eBay sales – one that is potentially very lucrative – is facilitating sales from manufacturers and wholesalers directly to customers through dropshipping.

While all business opportunities are fraught with dangers and pitfalls, dropshipping on eBay has the advantage of being one of the few ways you can start up a profitable business without putting a large sum of money up front. In fact, since there is a short period of time where you have a buyer’s money before you actually the wholesaler or manufacturer you’re dealing with the money for the goods, the only money you’re responsible for putting up front are the modest eBay fees. For as little as $1, you can be on your way to re-selling items on eBay for profit.

Your No Money Up-front Commitment

In fact, for most people looking to start up with a lucrative home-based business, the no money up-front aspect of dropshipping is the most appealing aspect. In a traditional business, one can put up thousands of dollars before you ever see Dime One. Since your shop is a virtual one and there is no need to spend money on the physical plant, warehousing and other elements of a traditional business.

It may come as no surprise to you that it’s easy to forget your commitment to not spending money to do things the “easy” way. But, the real beauty of this process is that it isn’t really any harder to set up shop and begin selling without spending any money at all – you just need to know the tricks and that’s what this book aims to do.

For starters, you need to go into this with a plan. Sure, plenty of folks are able to stumble their way into modest eBay profits, but the eBay marketplace is a lot more crowded than it was even a few years ago. No matter the market segment you choose to focus upon, you’ll be forced to specialize in order to really stand out in an increasingly crowded virtual room.

Of course, that’s the beauty of starting up such a business, even if it is done in your spare time as a second source of income. For many, this is a good way to jump into doing something with a hobby or avocation that they really love. Indeed, this is a good way to really find out how lucrative your hobby is, might be to give it a test run with eBay dropshipping.
