The latest grumble on the ‘net’, concerns paypals latest move, to penalise sellers yet again!

It seems that without any prior warning, that Paypal have decide to penalise their clients, the online sellers, in respect of the funds that they take per month.

Do a quick google search on ‘Paypal Account Reserve’ and you will see countless results for yourself. What are Paypal thinking?

Quick scam to increase the funds held by paypal to appease government legislation?

Guess what! Paypal falls outside the legislation that’s applied to our high street banks.

So quick scam it is then, any move they can think of to suck client money in to earn interest?

Google’s New Sidewiki Good or Bad?

Have you come across this snippet of information in the last few weeks?

We have just stumbled upon an article that states on September 22nd, Google released a new update to their so-popular toolbar called SideWiki and looking at it, this update could spell all kinds of trouble for your ecommerce business!

Basically, what it boils down to is that anybody using the Google toolbar (and we are talking thousands and thousands of people here) can add a comment to your website.

If they add good or complimenary comments about your site or business then obviously this would be very helpful to you and probably generate more sales.

The problem is, what if they don’t? What if they leave bad, negative comments that will obviously damage your business?

As it stands now, if a user has the Google toolbar and any sort of Google profile—Gmail, AdWords, AdSense or Google Checkout then he or she has free rein to make comments about your website in google search listings. The comments show up on the left hand side of the web site page.

This could be catastophic for your online reputation if your competitors or just some nasty person with a perverted sense of mischief decides to bombard your business website with malicious and harmful comments.

You can’t delete them.

You might notice a sudden drop in sales over a few days, and then check your website only to discover that someone has left a malicious comment.

It doesn’t matter that it isn’t true, the visitors to your site have no way of knowing whether it’s true or not, do they? They’ll take it as gospel and run a mile without buying anything.

Not only are you unable to delete comments of this nature, there is no way to opt out, nor a moderation queue so that you can approve or disapprove later.Once the comments are made, they’re there until Google removes them At this point, that’s your only way of getting rid of them. If someone leaves untrue or malicious comments on your website, you are supposed to notify Google and then wait patiently for them to remove the unwanted comments.

You might have a long wait, as there seem to be a LOT of irate ecommerce business owners grappling with this problem as this is being written. So Google probably has its hands full at the moment.

Hopefully Google will take action to correct this dismal state of affairs in the near future if enough people complain about it. But until then, you might want to consider getting the download to block unwanted comments.

New Paypal Tools Help Prevent Shopping Cart Abandonment

Shopping cart abandonment is a regrettable fact of life for anyone with an ecommerce business.

There are many and varied reasons why consumers place items in their online shopping carts and then back out before completing checkout. Some of the most common reasons for abandoned shopping carts are:

Decided to shop offline instead of online

The item was out of stock at checkout

Based on the findings of this survey, Paypal has released the new Paypal Instant Update API, which is an express checkout feature that they hope will help to eliminate shopping cart abandonment.

This new express checkout feature will let online merchants furnish customers with all of the information they need right up front, so that they can go ahead and complete the purchase.

If you are an online merchant who integrates the new Paypal Express Checkout feature into your website, your customers will be able to see all of the pertinent order details such as sales tax, if any; insurance choices and also the shipping options you are giving them.

By being able to see this early in the checkout process, this should cut down significantly on abandoned shopping carts because shoppers will see at a glance exactly what they will be paying in total.

Your customers will still be paying on your website, but they will be spared the time consuming inconvenience of having to enter things such as shipping address and payment information on your site to checkout, because it’s already on file with Paypal.

You might consider giving this a try, or at least a look-see.

Anything that helps cut down on shopping cart abandonment will definitely improve your profits and the success of your dropshipping business!

Check Out Bonanzle’s New Affiliate Program!

Bonanzle, the up and coming eBay alternative, recently launched a brand new affiliate program called the Syndicated Seller Program.

This new program will allow sellers to decide how much they are willing to pay affiliates as a referral fee.

For example, a Bonanzle seller might opt to pay a 2% referral fee, or a 10% referral fee. It’s strictly up to the seller.

Of course, it stands to reason that if you pay a higher percentage, you will have more affiliates linking to your Bonanzle items. So, if there is an affiliate that could generate a lot of traffic to your products, you might be well advised to pony up a little more as a referral fee and get oodles of great referrals!

If you are selling on Bonanzle, or totally fed up with FeeBay and looking around for somewhere else to market your wares, you might be quite interested in this innovative new program.

Bonanzle says that the final sale fees plus whatever sellers pay in referral fees is still usually less than what is paid to eBay or Amazon just for fees alone—without affiliate advertising.

It isn’t necessary to be a seller on Bonanzle in order to be an affiliate partner. You may simply register as an affiliate on Bonanzle, and create fully customizable widgets to show Bonanzle items on your web pages or blog.
