<div>Microsoft is billing Bing as a &#8220;search decision&#8221; engine. The idea being, presumably, that Bing will figure out what you really want and if you’re indecisive about what to buy&#8212;make the decision for you.</div>
<div>Bing was officially unveiled by the CEO of Microsoft on May 28, 2009, and is a replacement for Live Search. On July 29, 2009, Yahoo and Microsoft announced a 10-year deal between them in which the Yahoo search engine would be replaced by Bing.</div>
<div>Bing gained some market share during its first week, and according to Nielsen Online statistics released just a few days ago, is the fastest growing search engine on the internet.</div>
<div>Bing gained 10.7% of the web search market share in August, which was a 22% increase over July.</div>
<div>This is great progress for the new search engine kid on the block.</div>
<div>But, should you be advertising your ecommerce business on Bing instead of Google?</div>
<div>Probably not.</div>
<div>Although Bing is making headway already in the search engine market, bear in mind that Google still controls the lion’s share with a hefty 64.6%. So, pulling your marketing dollars out of Google in favor of Bing is more than a little premature at the moment.</div>
<div>However, Microsoft is funneling massive amounts of cash into advertising Bing, so there is a decent chance that Bing will give Google a run for its money as time goes on. So, at some point in the not too distant future, you might be well advised to consider advertising on Bing.</div>
<div>If Bing manages to supplant Google as the top search engine on the internet, or even become a serious contender, that will be a major achievement.</div>
<div>The market research firm, Millward Brown, that conducts surveys every year to determine the economic worth of the world’s brands, reports that Google has been Numero Uno for the past three years.</div>
<div>In fact, Google’s brand, or logo, was recently valued at more than $100 billion.</div>
<div>What is really amazing about these stats is that Google rarely advertises itself.</div>
<div>That may be subject to change, though, with Microsoft and Yahoo teaming up to topple Google off its throne as reigning search engine!</div>
